The 4.0Ah pack is the reason this kit exists. Ryobi’s claimed 64 minutes is double the 2.0Ah figure. Thirty pounds over the 2.0Ah kit buys a battery you will reuse on other ONE+ tools. Skip it if a 4.0Ah or 5.0Ah pack is already on the shelf. The bare tool is £45 cheaper. Skip it if the area is a two-metre path by the back door.

Do not confuse this with the RY18PCC. The head sits on the surface. Extra heads on Ryobi UK: RAC816 universal £11.75 (was £22.99), RAC820 wood / decking £14.99 (was £29.99), RAC823 artificial turf £14.99 (was £29.99), RAC824 heavy-duty wire for this body £27.29 (was £41.99), RAC825 scouring £16.49 (was £29.99). Those heads fit the PCB. They do not fit the PCC arbor. The PCC’s RAC814 and RAC818 wheels do not fit the PCB. Skip the PCB if the problem is grass in the joints. That is the PCC. Skip it if the slabs are green across the face and you have a tap. A mains washer with a Kärcher patio head still does that job faster.

The wire wheel is a wear part. The same 115 mm wheels fit the current PCC and the older PCA. RAC814 wire is £7.49 (was £14.99). RAC818 nylon is £8.99 (was £17.99). The three-pack is £14.00 (was £27.99). Use wire on brick, concrete and hard block paving. Use nylon on sandstone, limestone, porcelain, slate and marble. A steel wheel on soft stone will scratch.
The older RY18PCA
The PCA is the previous wire-brush generation. Same job, same spare wheels, 1350 rpm on paper. It still turns up at Amazon around £102 from third-party sellers, at B&Q as clearance around £95, and at Very at £122.99. If the price is clearly below the PCC and you already have ONE+ batteries, it still weeds a joint. If the price is the same or higher, buy the RY18PCC-0 from Ryobi UK.

Weeds in the joints: RY18PCC with the wire wheel. Soft stone: same PCC body, RAC818 nylon. Dirt on the face or on decking: RY18PCB. Green film across a terrace: a pressure washer. The PCC and PCB do not share heads. Already on 18V ONE+: buy the bare tool. No batteries, small path: RY18PCC-120 at £99.99. No batteries, long paving: RY18PCC-140 at £129.99. A 2.0Ah pack is a path battery. A 4.0Ah or 5.0Ah pack is a patio battery.
Buy a washer instead when the paving is green across the face, when you want to rinse detergent, or when the drive has oil and mud on the surface. Plenty of households will want both: the PCC for spring weeds, and a K4-class washer for the autumn rinse. They are not substitutes. Keep the wheel in the joint, not on the arris of a soft slab. Wear glasses. Sweep up after. The tool lifts the weed. It does not vanish the mess. It is not a herbicide. Roots in deep sand can return.
