Ryobi Patio Cleaner UK (2026)

A Ryobi patio cleaner is an 18V ONE+ cordless brush on a telescopic pole. The wire-brush models (RY18PCC) spin a 115 mm wheel through moss, weeds and grass in the joints of brick, block paving and slabs. The scrubbing models (RY18PCB) use a softer head on the face of the stone, on decking and on similar flat surfaces. You stand up, press the trigger, and walk the joint or the slab. That is the whole job.

It is not a pressure washer. There is no pump, no hose and no bar rating. Green film across a whole terrace, oil on a drive, or a rinse after detergent still wants water under pressure. Ryobi UK does not publish a weight on these product pages. European retailers list the RY18PCC-0 at about 2.4 kg without a battery. Specialist UK shops list the RY18PCB-0 at about 3.5 to 3.9 kg. Treat those as retailer figures, not a Ryobi UK spec sheet.

This is the current Ryobi patio cleaner. Ryobi’s own range page lists five SKUs. Three of them are this wire-brush body with different battery options. The job is the gap between the slabs, not the face of the stone.

You walk the joint with the spinning wire wheel. Weeds, moss and grass come out of brick, block paving and concrete. The telescopic pole is the reason people buy it: no kneeling with a knife, no bending with a hand scraper. Swap to the nylon wheel (sold separately) if the stone is soft.

It is a bare tool. If the shed already has a 2.0Ah, 4.0Ah or 5.0Ah ONE+ pack, this is the cheapest way onto the current model. A 2.0Ah pack is enough for a small path. A 4.0Ah or 5.0Ah pack is the one to reach for on a long run of block paving.

Register the tool with Ryobi if you want the extended 3-year guarantee. Terms apply. The standard cover is shorter until you do.

Skip it if you have no ONE+ batteries. The 2.0Ah kit is only £15 more and includes a charger. Skip it if the problem is green slime on the slab faces. That is a washer job, or the scrubbing model below.

Same tool as the RY18PCC-0. The only difference is the 2.0Ah pack and charger in the carton. At £99.99 that is a cheap way into the 18V ONE+ system if this is your first tool. The same battery will later run a drill, a strimmer or the Ryobi RY18PWX41A cordless washer.

Thirty-two minutes is Ryobi’s claim on a 2.0Ah pack. That is enough for a typical front path or a small courtyard if the joints are not a jungle. It is not enough for a long driveway in one go. If the patio is large and you have no other packs, look at the 4.0Ah kit instead.

The nylon wheel is still extra. Budget for an RAC818 if you have sandstone or porcelain, and for a spare RAC814 wire wheel once the first one rounds off.

Skip it if you already own a charger and two packs. Buy the bare tool. Skip it if you know the job will take an hour. The 4.0Ah kit costs £30 more and doubles the claimed runtime.

Best kit if the patio is the whole job

Again, the same RY18PCC body. The 4.0Ah pack is the reason this kit exists. Ryobi’s claimed 64 minutes is double the 2.0Ah figure, which matches the capacity. A bigger pack also holds voltage better under load, which matters when the wire wheel is in dense moss.

£129.99 is only £5 off the previous Ryobi list. The useful comparison is with the 2.0Ah kit at £99.99. Thirty pounds buys a battery you will reuse on other ONE+ tools. If this patio cleaner is the only 18V tool you will own, the 4.0Ah kit is the one that finishes a Saturday without a mid-job charge.

Skip it if a 4.0Ah or 5.0Ah pack is already on the shelf. The bare tool is £45 cheaper. Skip it if the area is a two-metre path by the back door. The 2.0Ah kit is enough.

Do not confuse this with the RY18PCC. The PCB is a scrubber. The head sits on the surface and spins at 940 rpm. Ryobi positions it for dirt and debris on patios, driveways and decking, with a detergent recommended for a better finish. The universal head is the one in the box. Those heads fit the PCB. They do not fit the PCC wire-wheel arbor. The PCC’s RAC814 and RAC818 wheels do not fit the PCB. Buy the body that matches the job, then buy the head.

Twenty minutes on a 2.0Ah pack is short for a whole terrace. If you already own a 4.0Ah or 5.0Ah pack, use that. The 2.0Ah kit at £129.99 is the starter option if you have no batteries. The bare tool at £107.99 is the buy if you do.

CBS Power Tools still listed the bare PCB at £129.95 in August 2026, and marked it sold out. Ryobi UK is the live price.

Skip it if the problem is grass and dandelions in the joints. That is the RY18PCC. Skip it if the slabs are green across the face and you have a tap. Brushes and consumables

The wire wheel is a wear part. It will round off, shed bristles and stop digging into a tight joint. Ryobi sells replacements that fit both the current RY18PCC and the older RY18PCA.

The three-pack is the sensible spare if you use the tool more than once a season. Ryobi’s copy still mentions the older RY18PCA and the even older OPC1800. The same 115 mm wheels fit the current PCC.

Use the wire wheel on brick, concrete and hard block paving. Use the nylon wheel on sandstone, limestone, porcelain, slate and marble. Ryobi is explicit about that split. A steel wheel on soft stone will scratch.

Third-party UK shops ask more for the same codes. CBS had the three-pack at £39.95. Stick to Ryobi UK while the sale prices hold.

The older RY18PCA

Ryobi’s current UK category is the RY18PCC and RY18PCB. The RY18PCA is the previous wire-brush generation. It is still for sale in places, so you will see it.

What the older model is, from retailer copy rather than the current Ryobi range page:

• B&Q has listed the RY18PCA-0 as clearance around £95. diy.com was unavailable when we tried to open the live product page, so treat that figure as a listing snapshot, not a confirmed checkout price.
• Very has listed the same bare tool at £122.99, which is more than Ryobi UK wants for the current PCC.

Do not buy the PCA as if it were the current model. If the price is clearly below the PCC and you already have ONE+ batteries, it still does the same job. If the price is the same or higher, buy the RY18PCC-0 from Ryobi UK.

How to choose

Wire or nylon, PCC or PCB

Start with the surface, then the dirt.

1. Weeds, grass and moss in the joints. RY18PCC with the wire wheel. This is the tool most people mean when they say Ryobi patio cleaner.
2. Soft stone, porcelain, limestone. Same PCC body, RAC818 nylon wheel. Do not put steel on those slabs.
3. Dirt on the face of the slab, or on decking. RY18PCB with the universal or wood head. Add detergent if Ryobi’s own copy is your guide.
4. Green film, algae or a whole terrace that needs a rinse. A pressure washer. The brush will not flood the surface or lift a film the way a patio head on a K4 will.

The PCC and PCB do not share brush heads. Buying one body and hoping to cover both jobs with a cheap accessory will not work.

Bare tool or kit

The washer-page rule applies here too. The tool is often cheaper than the batteries.

• Already on 18V ONE+: buy the bare RY18PCC-0 or RY18PCB-0.
• No batteries, small path: RY18PCC-120 at £99.99.
• No batteries, long run of paving: RY18PCC-140 at £129.99.
• A 2.0Ah pack is a path battery. A 4.0Ah or 5.0Ah pack is a patio battery.

Any current 18V ONE+ slide pack will run these tools. You do not need a special “patio” battery.

When to buy a washer instead

A Ryobi patio cleaner is the right tool when the dirt is in the joint and you can stand over it with a spinning brush. It is the wrong tool when the dirt is a film, a stain or a large wet job.

Buy a washer instead when:

• The paving is green across the face, not just in the gaps
• You want to rinse detergent or patio cleaner off a large area
• The drive has oil, mud or compacted dirt on the surface
• The area is big enough that a 32-minute battery run is a joke

A cordless washer (Worx HydroShot or Ryobi RY18PWX41A) will do a small patch. A mains machine in the 130 to 145 bar class is the tool for a full terrace. That is the cordless guide or the cars guide, depending on whether you have a tap and a socket.

Plenty of households will want both: the PCC for spring weeds in the joints, and a K4-class washer for the autumn rinse. They are not substitutes.

How to use it without wrecking the paving

Keep the wheel in the joint, not on the arris of a soft slab. Let the brush do the work. Leaning on it does not make weeds come out faster. It does polish the edge of the stone and throw grit.

Wear glasses. The guard is there because the wheel throws moss, sand and the odd pebble. Keep pets and children back. Do not run a wire wheel along a painted kerb, a metal manhole lid you care about, or the edge of a plastic gully.

Sweep up after. The tool lifts the weed. It does not vanish the mess.

What we left out

Parkside (Lidl), Titan (Screwfix own-brand) and Ferrex (Aldi) all sell spinning patio brushes when the promotion calendar says so. They are not in this list. Stock and spare wheels come and go, and there is no stable path we will send you down.

Generic no-name 20V joint brushes on Amazon look cheap. Spares, brush diameter and UK marking are a lottery. If you already live on ONE+, the Ryobi wheel and the Ryobi spare are the point.

We did not compare every third-party “Ryobi compatible” wire wheel. The official RAC814 is 115 mm and is the one Ryobi says fits the PCC and PCA.
