A petrol pressure washer is for jobs a 13A plug-in machine cannot reach, or cannot finish in one go. Long drives, farm yards, vans, plant, a patio at the far end of the garden. You get more bar and more water than a domestic Kärcher K4 or K5, and you do not need a socket. You also get noise, weight, fumes and an engine that wants oil, fresh unleaded and a dry winter.
This guide covers the petrol machines you can buy in the UK right now: Hyundai, Sealey, Kärcher Professional and Draper. Specs and prices come from manufacturer pages and UK retailers in August 2026. If you click through and buy, we may earn a commission.

Hyundai HYW3100P2
Best overall
- Buy: Hyundai UK £599.99 · Generators Direct £599.99 · Amazon.co.uk (listing exists; live price not captured this check)
- Pressure: 213 bar / 3100 psi max
- Flow: 10 L/min (600 L/h)
- Engine: Hyundai 212cc 4-stroke, recoil start, 5.25 kW, 3.6 L tank
- Pump: Annovi Reverberi RSV 3G31 triplex, ceramic pistons, brass head
- Hose: 7.5 m (7.62 m in the box list)
- Weight: 38 kg net
- Noise: 108 dB at 7 m
- Who it is for: homeowners and smallholders who want a petrol jet wash for drives, patios, brick and the occasional van, without stepping into 60 kg trade kit
This is the current Hyundai mid-range, not the older HYW3100P (2800 psi, sold out on the official site). The P2 is the one with the AR triplex pump. That pump is the reason to spend £600 rather than £250 on the HYW3400P. Axial pumps are fine for weekend use. A triplex pump is what you want if the machine will come out every fortnight.
213 bar sits well above a Kärcher K5 (145 bar). Flow at 10 L/min is what actually rinses a drive. A typical UK outdoor tap can feed this if the hose run is short and the stopcock is open. Gravity feed from a barrel is listed at 2 m. Hyundai says to prime on a mains tap first.
It is still a 38 kg, 108 dB petrol engine on a steel frame. Pneumatic (Hyundai also says puncture-proof) tyres help on gravel. They do not make it a one-hand lift into a hatchback. Register the machine if you want the three-year domestic cover. Commercial use is one year. Terms apply.
Skip it if a 130 to 145 bar mains washer will reach the job, or you want a Honda engine and a dealer network. That is the Kärcher, at three times the money.
Hyundai HYW3400P
Best budget petrol jet wash
- Buy: Hyundai UK £252 (was £279.99) · Machine Direct £279.99
- Pressure: 234 bar / 3400 psi max. One UK dealer quotes 193 bar / 2800 psi rated
- Flow: 9 L/min
- Engine: Hyundai 209cc 4-stroke Euro V, 4.3 kW, 3.3 L tank
- Pump: axial, with a pressure relief valve
- Hose: 10 m
- Weight: 27.5 kg net
- Extras: 5 L detergent tank, five quick-release tips (0°, 15°, 25°, 40°, soap)
- Who it is for: first petrol buy for a house with a long garden, a dirty drive and no wish to spend £600
The headline 234 bar looks stronger than the HYW3100P2. Treat that as a peak figure on an axial pump, not as a reason to skip the more expensive machine. Rated pressure, where published, sits nearer 193 bar. The honest advantages are price, weight, a 10 m hose and a detergent tank in the frame. The HYW3100P2 has none of those last two.
Gravity feed only works if the water source sits higher than the pump. Hyundai is clear about that. A water butt on a stand is fine. A barrel on the floor is not.
At 27.5 kg this is the only petrol washer on the page that one reasonably fit adult can load without a second pair of hands. It is still louder and smellier than any electric. The three-year home warranty is the same Hyundai offer as the dearer models, again subject to their terms.
Skip it if you will use it weekly, or you want a pump you can still buy parts for in ten years. Spend the extra on the HYW3100P2.
Sealey PWM2500
Best alternative-brand petrol pressure washer
- Buy: Sealey product page (list £719.94, sold through stockists) · DJM Direct £491.99 · Craigmore £532 · Toolstore Direct £544.28 · Tools4Trade £546
- Pressure: 220 bar max / 175 bar rated (Sealey V3)
- Flow: 570 L/h claimed; 7.5 L/min rated, 9.5 L/min max
- Engine: 209cc 4-stroke, 5.8 hp, recoil, 3.7 L tank, low-oil shutdown
- Hose: 7.6 m
- Weight: 26 kg net
- Noise: 111 dB(A)
- Who it is for: buyers who want a Sealey stockist, a detergent bottle and a lighter frame than the Hyundai P2
Sealey is a UK tool brand with a real parts diagram and a stockist network. That matters more than another 20 bar on the box. The current official spec is the V3: 5.8 hp, 26 kg, 7.6 m hose, 3.7 L detergent bottle. Plenty of shops still list the older 6.5 hp / 35 kg / 5 m hose sheet. Buy the machine in front of you, not a cached spec.
Rated pressure is 175 bar. That is the number to compare with a Hyundai 213 bar peak. Flow is a step down on the HYW3100P2. For a van, a yard and a patio it is still a petrol jet wash, not a garden hose.
Street price sits around £490 to £550. That undercuts the Hyundai P2 if you find a stockist with the V3 in the warehouse. Sealey’s own list is £719.94 and the factory page was showing out of stock at the time of writing.
Skip it if you want a published Italian triplex pump and a three-year domestic warranty. Hyundai is clearer on both.
Hyundai HYW4000P
Best heavy-duty petrol pressure washer
- Buy: Hyundai UK £899.99 · Generators Direct £899.99 · Amazon.co.uk (listing exists; live price not captured this check)
- Pressure: 275 bar / 4000 psi max. One dealer quotes 250 bar / 3625 psi rated
- Flow: 15 L/min (900 L/h)
- Engine: Hyundai IC420, 420cc 4-stroke, 9 kW, 6.5 L tank, low-oil cut-out
- Pump: Annovi Reverberi RSV 4G40 triplex, thermal relief
- Hose: 15 m (15.24 m in the box list)
- Weight: 60.4 kg net
- Noise: 111 dB at 7 m
- Who it is for: farms, plant, commercial vehicles, and houses with a huge drive plus a tap that can actually supply 15 L/min
This is the top of Hyundai’s current petrol range. The 15 m hose is the practical upgrade as much as the extra bar. You park the frame once and work a long run. The AR 4G40 pump is built for longer sessions than the 3G31 in the P2.
The catch is water, not power. 15 L/min is more than many UK garden taps will give on a summer evening. Starving the pump wrecks seals. Hyundai allows mains or gravity feed (2 m draw) and tells you to prime on a tap first. If your outdoor tap is a trickle, this is the wrong machine.
At 60 kg it needs a van, a ramp or two people. 111 dB at 7 m is hearing protection and a conversation with the neighbours. Same three-year domestic / one-year commercial warranty as the smaller Hyundais, terms apply.
Skip it if you wash cars more than yards. 275 bar on paint is how you pay for a respray. Use a 40° tip, keep your distance, or buy the P2.
Kärcher HD 7/15 G
Best trade petrol pressure washer
- Buy: Kärcher UK · PriceSpy from £1,767 · Tooled-Up listed at £1,799.95 · Ernest Doe £2,299 · Cromwell £1,769 ex VAT
- Pressure: 150 bar working / 210 bar max
- Flow: 650 L/h (about 10.8 L/min)
- Engine: Honda GX160 petrol
- Hose: 10 m, EASY!Force gun, EASY!Lock fittings
- Weight: 39.5 kg with accessories
- Who it is for: contractors, farms and anyone who wants a Honda engine, Kärcher Professional parts and a machine that can suck from a pond
Kärcher’s home range in the UK is electric. The HD 7/15 G is the petrol model that is actually sold here, and it lives in the Professional catalogue. Working pressure is 150 bar, not 210. That is still enough, with 650 L/h behind it, to clean concrete and kit all day. The Honda GX160 is the reason people pay the premium: service agents exist in most towns.
It will draw from a lake or a bowser. That is the job a homeowner petrol washer is often bought for and then found wanting on. EASY!Force uses jet recoil so the trigger does not fight you for an hour. A cage frame and hose reel are extras.
It is not three times better than the HYW3100P2 for a Saturday patio. It is three times the price because it is built for a van that leaves at 7am. If that is not your week, the Hyundai is the better petrol buy.
Skip it if you want maximum bar per pound. A Hyundai P2 or 4000P prints higher numbers for less money.
Draper Expert 83819
Best big-surface petrol washer (not for cars)
- Buy: Draper RRP £1,078.80 · Costco UK £549.99 (membership) · Kendal Tools £705.99 · Tools To Go £684.99
- Pressure: 234 bar working / 262 bar max
- Flow: 12 L/min (720 L/h)
- Engine: 13 hp, 389cc 4-stroke
- Pump: brass triplex with a regulator
- Hose: Draper’s own pages disagree (10 m in the description, 8 m in the contents list)
- Weight: 55 kg dry
- Warranty: 12 months
- Who it is for: yards, paths and farm hardstanding, if you will never point it at a family car
Draper prints the warning in plain English: the pressure makes this machine unsuitable for domestic vehicles. Believe it. 234 bar working with 12 L/min will lift moss and oil. It will also cut into lacquer.
The Costco price is the only reason this belongs on a homeowner page. At Draper’s own £1,078 it is in Kärcher-adjacent money without a Honda engine or a three-year warranty. Shop prices sit in a wide band, so the same SKU can look like a bargain or a mistake.
Skip it if cars, caravans or painted joinery are on the job list. Buy the HYW3100P2 and a 40° nozzle.
How to choose a petrol pressure washer
Petrol vs electric
Buy petrol when at least one of these is true:
- There is no 13A socket within a safe lead of the work.
- The area is large enough that a 400 L/h mains washer will take all afternoon.
- You need to draw from a butt, bowser or (on the Kärcher) a pond.
Buy electric when the tap and the socket are both on the drive. A Kärcher K4 or K5 at 130 to 145 bar will do cars, furniture and a normal UK patio with less noise, less weight and no fuel to go stale. Petrol does not make a small job faster. It makes a big job possible.
Pressure and flow
UK boxes quote bar. A garden hose is about 2 to 4 bar. A mains K 2 is about 110 bar.
- 150 to 180 bar working: trade petrol (Kärcher HD 7/15 G) and the Sealey’s rated figure. Plenty for concrete if the flow is there.
- 200 to 220 bar class: HYW3100P2 peak, Sealey max. The useful homeowner petrol range.
- 230 bar-plus peak: HYW3400P, Draper, HYW4000P. Easy to damage paint, wood and pointing. Start on a 40° tip, a metre back.
Flow (L/min) is how fast the dirt leaves. 9 to 11 L/min is the sweet spot for a house. 15 L/min on the HYW4000P is a commercial rinse, and it needs a commercial water supply.
Pump, engine and warranty
Axial pumps (HYW3400P) keep the price down. Triplex pumps (Hyundai AR, Draper brass, Kärcher Professional) last longer if you change oil, do not run dry and drain the pump before frost. Annovi Reverberi is a real spare-parts name. That is why the HYW3100P2 sits at the top of this list.
Four-stroke engines take straight unleaded and a separate sump of SAE30 or 15W40. No 2-stroke mix. Low-oil cut-outs on the Sealey and the HYW4000P are worth having. Recoil start is standard. None of these is electric-start.
Hyundai’s domestic cover is three years, commercial one year, registration and terms apply. Draper is 12 months. Kärcher Professional is sold through dealers who will tell you the current terms before you order.
Weight, noise and the neighbours
27 kg is a lift. 38 kg is a wheel. 60 kg is a two-person job. All of them sit around 108 to 111 dB. That is not a Sunday-morning tool on a terrace of houses. Ear defenders for you, a text to next door, and do not run it at 8am.
Fumes mean outdoors only, never a closed garage.
Water supply
Most of these want a tap. Gravity feed is a bonus, not a given.
- Mains tap: best for every model. Short, unkinked hose. Open the stopcock fully.
- Gravity / barrel: Hyundai lists 2 m draw on the P2 and 4000P. The HYW3400P needs the source above the pump.
- Open water: the Kärcher HD 7/15 G is the one specified to suck from a lake or pond, with a filter. Do not copy that trick on a cheap axial pump.
Never run the pump dry. Never leave water in it if the shed will freeze.
What we left out
Parkside (Lidl), Titan (Screwfix) and Ferrex (Aldi) appear when the promotion calendar says so. No stable affiliate path, and next year’s spare pump is a guess.
Kranzle does sell petrol machines in the UK (B 13/150 from about £2,070, B 170 T about £2,690, Honda engines, 20 m hose reels). They are trade purchases, not a first petrol jet wash.
Generic no-name 3000 psi Amazon frames with mystery engines look cheap. Spares and oil specs are a lottery. Stick to a brand that still answers the phone.
The older Hyundai HYW3100P (2800 psi) and the P4200PWT were listed on Hyundai UK but sold out at the time of writing. Do not hunt leftovers unless the price is clearly below the P2.
FAQ
What is the best petrol pressure washer in the UK right now?
For most households, the Hyundai HYW3100P2. AR triplex pump, 213 bar, 10 L/min, £599.99, and a three-year domestic warranty if you register it. If the budget is £250 to £280, the HYW3400P is the honest cheaper petrol jet wash, with a lighter frame and a weaker pump.
Is a jet wash the same thing?
In the UK, yes. Jet wash is what most people say. Same trolley, same engine, same pump.
When should I buy petrol instead of electric?
When the socket will not reach, or the area is too big for a 7 L/min mains washer. For a car and a small patio, electric is quieter, lighter and cheaper to own. Petrol is for distance and volume, not for a Saturday wheel clean.
Can I wash a car with a petrol pressure washer?
Yes, carefully, on a 40° or soap nozzle, from a sensible distance. The HYW3400P, HYW3100P2 and Sealey PWM2500 are the ones to use. The Draper 83819 is explicitly not for domestic vehicles. The HYW4000P is overkill unless you are rinsing a tractor.
Do I need a tap for a petrol pressure washer?
You need a water source. A mains tap is the reliable one. Several Hyundais will gravity-feed from a raised barrel once primed. The Kärcher HD 7/15 G can draw from open water. A thin garden tap will starve the HYW4000P.
How loud is a petrol pressure washer?
Hyundai quotes 108 dB at 7 m on the P2 and 111 dB on the 4000P. Sealey quotes 111 dB(A). Wear ear protection. Do not expect to chat over it, and do not run it early on a tight street.
