Kärcher Patio Cleaner UK (2026)

A Kärcher patio cleaner is not a pressure washer. It is a flat, hooded head that clips onto a K-series mains machine and spins two jets under a splash guard. Kärcher’s current name for that head is T-Racer. Without a compatible washer, a tap and a 13A socket, it does nothing.

That is the first buying mistake. People search this phrase expecting a standalone patio machine. What they usually need is either the T 5 attachment for a washer they already own, or a Home kit (K4 or K5) that already includes one. A cordless brush, such as a Ryobi patio cleaner, is a different job. That is for weeds and joints, not the face of the slab.

Kärcher T 5 T-Racer

Best everyday patio head if you already own a K-series washer

Kärcher’s current everyday patio head is the T 5. Official product title on the UK accessory page is T 5 T-Racer Surface Cleaner. Two flat jets sit on a rotating arm under a hood. The hood is the point. A dirt-blaster lance throws grit up the wall, over the dog and through the kitchen door. This keeps most of that water on the stone.

The jets can be set closer to, or further from, the surface. Hard York stone and concrete want the closer setting. Decking and painted timber want the higher one. Kärcher claims it cleans in about half the time of a spray lance. That is a manufacturer figure, not a timed test on this site. What you can see from the design is even coverage and less striping than a wand waved by hand.

It also stands on its handle for garage doors and low walls. That is useful. It is not a reason to buy one if you only have a small patio.

Kärcher UK lists K 2 through K 7, including Classic, Power Control, eco!Booster and WCM Flex variants. A K2 will run it. A K2 will also feel thin on a green terrace. 110 bar and 360 L/h move the head. They do not strip a winter of algae the way a K4’s 130 bar and 420 L/h do. If the washer is a K2 and the patio is the main job, buy a K4 Home kit, not a £55 head on a weak machine.

Street price in August 2026 sits around £55. Trafalgar is a clean £55 including VAT. Screwfix is £58.99. Wickes still shows £79 as the list and has been on offer at £54. Price comparison sites have shown from about £49. Toolstation at £94.99 is not the price to pay. Amazon has been around £55 on comparison sites. A June 2026 Prime drop to £40.99 is gone.

Skip it if you do not own a Kärcher. It will not clip onto a Bosch, Nilfisk or random Amazon gun. Skip it if a Home kit is already in the basket. That box already has a T 5. Skip it if the only dirt is moss in the joints. This head washes the face of the slab. It does not pick weeds.

Kärcher T 7 Plus T-Racer

Best head if you already have a K4 to K7 and hate leaving a dirty border

The T 7 Plus is the step up. Same rotating twin-jet idea, slightly wider hood, more weight. The extra is a front power nozzle. A foot switch fires it into corners and along the house wall, then a rinse jet pushes loose dirt off. That is the job the T 5 leaves for a lance.

It will not run on a K2 or K3. Kärcher UK is explicit: K 4 to K 7. If your machine is a K2 Home, this is the wrong accessory. Buy the T 5, or replace the washer.

UK pricing is messier than the T 5. Trafalgar’s £74.99 including VAT is the clearest specialist figure on this check. JHS is £87.97. Comparison sites on 16 August 2026 ran from about £83 to £106, with a few listings at £122 that look like VAT confusion or a bundle. Screwfix UK did not have a live listing. The Irish Screwfix page is not a UK price. Some shops still print T 450 in the title. That is the old name. The current SKU is 2.644-074.0.

If a Home kit already gave you a T 5, the T 7 Plus is the only upgrade that makes sense. Do not buy both on day one. Use the T 5 for a season. If the leftover strip along the wall annoys you, add this.

Skip it if the washer is a K2 or K3. Skip it if the patio is a small square and the T 5 is already in a Home box. Skip it if you were quoted over £120 for the head alone without a clear reason.

Best buy if you do not already own a mains washer

This is the honest “Kärcher patio cleaner” for people who do not own a machine. The box is a K4 plus a T 5 plus detergent. You are buying a 130 bar, tap-fed washer that also washes a car. The head is the extra, not the product.

Do not then add a second T 5. Retailers will happily sell you one. The kit already has it.

The bare K4 Power Control Flex (no patio head) has been from about £200 on Amazon and £209 at B&Q. Home kits that add the T 5 sit around £220 to £260. Viking’s £219.99 is the lowest named Home figure here. SCE is £245. B&Q’s Car & Home at £259 adds foam, a wash brush and car shampoo as well as the T 5. Amazon’s Home listing exists (B0DQLFHZZN). A clean UK buy-box was not captured. The cars page has listed a Car & Home bundle around £298 on Amazon and about £260 at Very. Shop the SKU, not the word “Home” on a banner.

Eight metres of Flex hose is enough for a typical terrace if you park the trolley at a corner. It is not enough to stand still on a long side-return. The dirt blaster in the box is for stubborn spots the T 5 will not face. It is not for the whole patio. That is how you get stripes and splash.

Skip it if you already own a working K4 or K5. Buy the T 5 on its own. Skip it if the patio is large, north-facing and filthy. That is the K5 kit. Skip it if there is no outdoor socket and no tap. A mains head will not help. See the cordless pressure washer guide.

Best kit if the patio is big, or you also have a long drive

Same T 5 as the K4 kit. The upgrade is water volume and hose, not a better patio head. 500 L/h rinses a 30 to 40 m² terrace faster than 420 L/h. Ten metres of hose means you park the machine once.

The extra bar is for block paving and algae, not for getting closer to the pointing. Used on a wide setting under the hood, it is the right class for a neglected UK patio. Used as a pencil jet along a mortar joint, it will blow the sand out.

Pricing is a spread. The bare K5 Flex has been £240 on Amazon. Home kits that add the T 5 sit higher. ITS has shown £299.99. Amazon search snippets show from £329.99. B&Q’s Car & Home, with car extras as well, is £369. If the bare K5 is £240 and a T 5 is £55, buying them separately is about £295 before detergent. A Home kit at £300 is then a wash. A Home kit at £370 is a luxury. Check the live total.

Skip it if the only hard surface is a 3 × 4 m yard. The K4 Home is enough. Skip it if you already own the washer. Add the T 5, or the T 7 Plus if you want the edge jet.

How to choose

Attachment or Home kit

Own a K2 to K7 already? Buy the head. The T 5 is the default. The T 7 Plus is the edge-and-rinse upgrade for K4 to K7.

Own nothing? Buy a Home kit. The phrase “Kärcher patio cleaner” on a shop site often means the whole box: washer, T 5, detergent. That is the correct buy if the machine is part of the job. It is the wrong buy if a K4 is already in the shed.

Open the kit list. If it says T 5, do not add another. If it says T 1 (common on K2 Home), that is a smaller, older-style head. Fine for a tiny yard. Not the same as a T 5.

T 5 or T 7 Plus

Most households should buy the T 5. The T 7 Plus earns its keep on a large terrace with a lot of wall, steps or raised beds. It does not clean the middle of a slab any better. It finishes the border without a lance change. It also needs a K4 to K7. A K2 or K3 cannot run it.

Washer class

The head does not make pressure. The washer does.

• K2 (110 bar, about 360 L/h): will spin a T 5. Slow on green stone. Short hose, usually 4 to 5 m. Fine for a small, lightly dirty yard. A K2 Home box usually includes a T 1, not a T 5. Screwfix has the K2 Home around £123. Trafalgar has listed £119.99.
• K4 (130 bar, 420 L/h): the useful UK patio class. This is the Home kit to start with if you also want to wash a car. See the cars page for the washer on its own, or the Kärcher hub if you are still choosing a class.
• K5 (145 bar, 500 L/h): buy it for litres and a 10 m hose, not because a patio “needs 145”.
• K7: will run a T 5 or T 7 Plus. It is a driveway machine. Do not buy a K7 only to clip a patio head onto it.

Bosch and Nilfisk washers do not take this bayonet. If that is the machine in the garage, buy that brand’s own patio head, or accept the lance.

Very old Kärcher guns (often pre-2011) can need an adaptor. Kärcher’s usual part for that job is 2.643-950.0. If the new head will not click onto an older gun, that is the first thing to check, not a “faulty” T 5.

Splash, neighbours and windows

The hood is why these heads exist. You still get a wet patio, a wet operator and a wet strip at the edges. Do not run one against an open French door, a socket, or a neighbour’s freshly pointed wall. Kärcher talks about a hovercraft effect. The head floats on the water film. Let it. Leaning on the handle just scrapes the brim and stalls the arm.

Joints versus the face of the slab

A patio has two dirt problems.

1. The face. Algae, traffic film, barbecue fat. That is this head, plus stone detergent if you want it. Kärcher’s 3-in-1 stone cleaner is the bottle in the Home kits. Trafalgar has the 1 L around £8.80.
2. The joints. Weeds, moss, sand that has gone green. A spinning hood will not pick that. A dirt blaster along the joint will blow the pointing out. The tool for joints is a brush, a knife, or a dedicated Ryobi patio cleaner. That is a different product. Do not expect a T 5 to replace it.

If the slabs are loose or the pointing is soft, keep the head moving and stay off the joints. York stone and old sandstone mark if you park the jets in one spot.

Decking

The height adjustment is there for timber. Use the higher nozzle setting, keep the head moving, and do not chase silvered grain until it is raw. Wood cleaner exists for a reason. A T 5 on full chat, close in, will raise the grain and stripe the boards.

What we left out

T 350, T 450, T 300. These are the previous generation. Kärcher UK still has leftover T350 copy in places. Specialist outlets list old stock as not available. The current heads are T 5 (2.644-084.0) and T 7 Plus (2.644-074.0). Do not hunt a T 350 unless you are matching a spare part you already own.

K2 Home as a “patio cleaner”. Shops sell it that way. The head in that box is a T 1 (some copy still says T 150). Fine for a balcony. Not a T 5.

PS 30 Power Scrubber. Trafalgar has it around £36. Three nozzles and a squeegee, aimed at steps and edges. Useful next to a T 5. It is not a patio head for a whole terrace.

Cordless brush tools. Ryobi patio cleaners and similar battery brushes are for weeds and joints. Useful. Not a substitute for a mains washer on green slabs.

Parkside, Titan and Ferrex. Own-brand heads appear when Lidl, Screwfix and Aldi run a promotion. They are not in this list. Fit, spares and next year’s stock are a lottery.

Generic Amazon “patio cleaner” discs. Some claim to fit Kärcher. Some do. Seals, jet arms and UK support are why the genuine T 5 is £55 and not £22.

K7 Home kits. They exist. They include a T 5. They are a lot of washer for a domestic patio. Buy one if you already know you want the K7. Do not buy one because the box says Home.
