How we review

This page is the method behind every guide on BestPressureWashers.co.uk.

Editorial independence

Picks are set on the job (cars, patio, cordless, petrol), then on the live UK price and what is actually in the box. An affiliate programme does not move a machine up the page. A machine we cannot earn from can still be named if readers will meet it in the shops. Own-brand supermarket washers are left out because there is no usable affiliate path, and we say that on the site.

We do not accept payment for a higher ranking, a “best overall” badge, or a quieter criticism.

Where the facts come from

In this order:

  1. Manufacturer spec sheets and UK product pages. Bar, flow, hose length, motor, weight, what is in the carton.
  2. Live UK retailers. Screwfix, Amazon UK, ITS, Kärcher UK, Very, Argos, B&Q, brand stores. Prices are dated on the page.
  3. Part numbers. K4 and K5 Flex kits are not the same SKU as last year’s stiff-hose box. We shop the number on the carton.
  4. Independent write-ups only as a cross-check, never as the source of a spec.

We do not treat a manufacturer “up to” pressure figure as the working figure if the rated figure is published. We do not treat an ex-VAT trade price as the street price.

What we do not claim

Dean Smith does not run a test lab. Pages are buying guides, not “I blasted my slabs for a week” diaries. Runtime, noise and “feels like” claims stay with the manufacturer or a named third-party review.

If we have not confirmed a price on the day, we say “from about” or we leave the shop out.

How a page is structured

  • A short verdict in the opening.
  • Conversion cards for the machines we would actually send someone to buy.
  • A comparison table where the spec difference matters.
  • A “skip it if” on each pick.
  • Links to the related job page (cars, patio head, cordless, how to use one).
  • A one-line affiliate disclosure at the top.

When we update

We update when a featured price dies, a kit changes (Home vs Flex vs Classic), a model is withdrawn, or a reader flags an error. The date in the copy is the check date, not a promise that every tile on Amazon still matches.

Money

Retailer links may be affiliate links. The price you pay does not change. See the affiliate disclosure.
